About Us

Villa Agung Khalia is an oasis of Balinese hospitality and comfort.  Our villas and suites offer a unique combination of traditional Balinese architecture and modern amenities.  We provide an inviting holiday home where you feel like you are living in a Balinese palace as you explore the wonderful surroundings of Ubud and beyond. 

Our management team and staff are dedicated to making your stay with us an unforgettably wonderful experience, and we work hard to make this happen.  We encourage guests to interact with our staff, all of whom love to share their knowledge of Balinese culture.  Guests are invited to morning hikes in the rice fields, to attend any local ceremonies that might be ongoing, or to visit the local villages. 

We are located in an area of tranquil rice fields with wonderful morning views of Bali’s volcanoes, yet just 10 minutes from central Ubud's cultural performances, shops, museums and gourmet restaurants.  The villa complex offers accommodation to fit most every traveler’s needs and consists of:

Villa I:  3-bedroom villa with its own 4m x 10m swimming pool.  All bedrooms are ensuite with an additional toilet located next to the main living room.  Sleeps up to 7 guests in the bedrooms plus two more (if needed) in daybeds located in the upstairs living room.  The villa measures 300 square meters (approx. 3,200 square feet).

Villas 2 and 3:  Two 3-bedroom villas facing each other with a shared  5m x 12m swimming pool located between them.  These can also be rented as a 6-bedroom villa with private pool.  All bedrooms are ensuite.  As with Villa I, these villas can each sleep 7-9 guests.  Each villa measures 300 square meters.

Villa Maia: Our newest villa opening at the end of March 2012.  This is a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom villa measuring approximately 160 square meters (1700 square feet) with a private 4m x 8m swimming pool.

Sawah View Studio: This suite consists of a large bedroom with a 4-poster king bed and sofa, an ensuite bathroom and a kitchenette.  The view from the bed and exterior balcony allow for unobstructed views over the rice fields and towards the volcanoes.  The suite has a private 3m x 5m pool and sundeck. 

Lotus Suite: This suite consists of a large bedroom with a 4-poster king bed, a single day-bed, an ensuite bathroom and a kitchenette.  The exterior patio leads to a private 3m x 5m pool and sundeck. 
For large groups or extended families looking for a private retreat for a special occasion we can accommodate up to 36 guests with both comfort and privacy.

Villa Agung Khalia uses only local labor, with a commitment to helping support the local community.  We provide health insurance and a profit-sharing program for the villa staff and we support the Robin Carlson Children’s Language Program which provides free education to almost 600 rural Balinese children.

We strongly believe it is our beautiful setting with panoramic rice field views, the interactions between the staff and guests, and our focus on Balinese traditions which make Villa Agung Khalia such a superb place to stay, and we invite you to experience our wonderful little slice of Bali.
